Water quality or pollution report checklist

For drinking-water taste, smell, colour, or safety:

- contact the water company first
- note date, time, address, and affected taps
- describe taste, odour, colour, particles, or illness concern
- take photos if visible
- keep company reference number and advice given
- contact DWI if the company response does not resolve the issue

For sewage, river pollution, dead fish, or environmental harm:

- report urgent incidents in England to the Environment Agency
- report urgent incidents in Wales to Natural Resources Wales
- note exact location, date, and time
- say whether it is still happening
- describe colour, smell, flow, dead fish, debris, or affected wildlife
- take photos or video only if safe
- keep the incident reference number
- separately complain to the water company if the issue affects your property or service

Do not merge different issues into one claim. Keep billing, drinking-water quality, pollution, and advertising concerns separate unless an official body asks for combined evidence.
